L9WHA Updates

The Lower 9th Ward Homeownership Association (L9WHA) has a long record of success. As a result of our persistent advocacy, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved new policies related to disaster recovery and authorized the release of an additional $33 million in funds for Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricane Katrina. We are working with Lower 9th Ward homeowners to ensure they receive all rebuilding monies they are due. So far, we have secured more than $3.4 million in Road Home funds to rebuild the homes of 34 families – all on an annual program budget of $90,000.
